...and the design is starting to grow on me.

I wish they had built more power into it.

Also, there should be tail fins like on the '55-'57 birds. That would have really looked cool!

And if they had used shrouded headlights like on the '55-'57s, it would have been a winner. {again}

They could be 'frenched'..

Ah, maybe not. I don't remember if the lites are round. :/

Now, after opening my fat mouth, I must go look.

Yes, they are round.

The new T-Bird looks a lot like the early Corvette.

Just leave the body alone! Do the work under the hood. Get it to move. Don't make it a retirement sports car.

When I went to look at one, I said to the sales guy, If you put in the Lightning motor and a 6 speed, I'll be interested.

I agree that they should have just gone all the way retro. Just duplicate the 57. I've always been hopelessly in love with that body style. Its really quite different from the 55 and 56. The headlight pods are more oval and the grille is more modern looking. The tail fins were to die for. Perfect size, shape and slant.

The 57 had several performance options also that I don't think were available on the previous years. One was a 312 with a McCullough centrifgal blower another with 2 4 barrel carbs. I'm not 100% sure about the transmission options. I know there was, of course, an automatic and I saw one with a manual 3 speed on the floor. The manual was likely a 3 speed with overdrive as that was popular then.

Have you all guessed by now that the 57 was my fav?

Anyway, I like the new ones, but they are so close to the 57 in bodystyle, yet so far.

Red is the only color they should have made the 57s and so far that is the best color I've seen on the new version.

I really like the new Tbird in black or turquoise, with the turquoise interior. It`s too bad that Ford priced the car so high, outta my price range. If they would have used a 4.6 or 5.4 mod motor, It likely would cost less than the 3.9 Jag. engine they did use. They look soooo cool!

When it comes to power, look into what Lincoln is up to with the LS. Since it's the same engine, I bet you'll find go fast goodies for the 'Bird soon.

Also, Ford has promised an SVT version of the car since the concept. They built a supercharged version already, let's hope it sees production, Corvette may have to face the thunder once again.

I saw a red one with black interior the other day in a showroom and thought it looked pretty sharp. The only thing I really didn?t like was the instrumentation. To me it looked like some paper plates with number on them.

I like that idea. Too bad it would probably twist it so bad that the doors wouldn't stay shut and the windshield would pop out.

Maybe a 4.6 from a GT would warm it up enough (if one of them could be stuffed into it).

The entire concept of is cool but a little more of the old bird should have been included. (imho)

Years ago, I bought one of their cassettes, just because it had a red 57 Tbird on the cover.Didn`t care all that much for the music, but the tape is still in my collection. Is that strange or what?
