Is a installation sleeve required for the ORange viton valve seals?
In other words, will passing over the keeper grooves damage Viton?

Good question. I know the shop I helped in Iowa never used one.

Yes you should.
You can use a little piece of saran wrap.------------------

So several months ago I installed spring shims and in doing so removed and re-installed the orange seals without and tool or protection over the keeper groove.
Did I ruin them?

Does the motor smoke bad on cold start up?
If not, they are fine.------------------

Who makes the orange seals?
I thought they were Comp, but the Comps seals are only for the 5/16 valves, not 11/16 like I have.
