On my way home today I was turning at a redlight when all of a sudden my engine started making a funny noise. I was probably going about 15 mph when this happend. From the inside of the car it sounded like I blew a header gasket, kind of like a loud exhaust leak. Being as though I was only a little ways from the house I kept going, oil pressure and temp were good. I pulled under the garage and left the engine running and got out and lifted the hood. It sounded like something had come loose on a roller rocker or something, so I shut it down. I pulled the valve covers off and much to my surprise everything looks fine. I talked to my mechanic this afternoon and he said he'll come over and look at it tomorrow. Do you fellows have any idea what it might be or have any advice as to what I should look for? This is a brand new 347 stroker motor, somewhere around 1000 miles on it.

Thanks,
Barry

If it has stock valve covers on it, Ive seen the baffle under the breather on the right side break off and make a heck of a racket hitting the rocker arm. Something to check anyway

I pulled both valve covers off, there is nothing apparent. The baffle is still in place. I have the tall valve covers. Thanks though.

Smiley Lewis, who is that?????? If he can help, give him a call . Thanks for trying to make me laugh, I'm afraid when I figure out what's wrong I may want to cry. New AFR heads, surely there is nothing wrong with them.

Hey Alex, Ole Smiley called me today, said to tell you hello. Also advised me to look at the plugs in the end of those AFR heads, said they are sometimes bad about vibrating out. He wondered why you didn't tell me to check them, he said he knows you know they are there. Whew, I'm some relieved, almost paniced there for a minute or two. Now, on to the next dragon to sleigh!

Thanks fellows,
Barry
