When "testing" my detroit locker i get almost immediate wheel hop. I think my 1" lowering blocks are the suspect but want to see your guys opinion. I've got big block torino leafs with south side machine bars. (i think they say NOT to use lowering blocks). Also have some old KYB shocks so those may need replacing also. So should i take the blocks out and have the springs dearched to bring the rear down to where i like it? Shock recommendation for a mostly street car? thanks

lowered leafsprings with stiffer specs, and some good shocks might help...

Seems to me the lowering blocks would cause more leverage on the leaf springs, but the traction bars should overcome that. I'd try clamping the front of the springs (as seen in other posts) and some sort of adjustable shocks first.

Why not pull out the lowering blocks as a test, leave everything else the same. you dont have to spend any money and youll be able to confirm the blocks were the problem.

Is there a specific part/clamp for clamping the front of the spring?
I keep hearing of this method but have never seen it or know what you use, is there a specific supplier?

Nice article there. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll clamp the front half of the springs and may also remove the blocks just to see if that makes a difference.
