New holley Str. avenger 670, runs really well except at cruise when the car feels like it backs off, surges, like your on & off the gas slightly
any ideas?

I think surges are usually caused by lean conditions..How do the plug look?

Power valve may be too tall for part throttle cruise conditions.
A shorter one will probably cure the problem.

Sounds lean at cruise. Try playing with the timing a little. I found (on my old Mustang) that retarding the timing a little at cruise only (adjustable vacuum advance) while not messing with the total or initial advance...I was able to get rid of most of the surge, yet still get good fuel economy.

Just a thought, FWIW.

Lean condition was apparant ever so, 2 sizes up,seemed to do the trick.
actually i took the bigger jets from the secondaries & switched with the 2 sizes smaller in the primaries
Worked for about a week, now its back!
nothing to really get excited about, but, i wil pour gas in my interior & set fire to her if she doesn;t stop doing this immediately

Try a different power valve like Alex said. It worked for me, I had the same problem.
