Yes I know that Alex. What I'm saying is I would like something like those.I don't know if or when those might be available and I think they say Boss 302 on them as well which doesn't really suit a 351W

I'm not really into the fabricated sheetmetal look either..I'm looking for a 427 pentroof kind of look or the boss 302/cleveland factory aluminium covers. The hard part so far is getting a set that doesn't say cobra on them since most seem to be aimed at the cobra replica crowd.

How about some adapters to put FE valve covers on a Windsor.

Try this...
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/superhart/vcadapter.htm

The valve covers in the picture may be from Holman Moody.

I seemed to have confused some people.I'm not looking for actual "BOSS" covers as they must fit my windsor heads..It's that style I'm looking for.A factory "appearing" valve cover but with a different shape than the flat topped typical Windsor cover.Even though there are lots of finned cobra versions most are still that "flat" windsor shape. I've seen the FE adaptors and thats what turned me on to putting the pentroof style of cover onto the windsor.I'm not sure I like the overhang though. My car doesn't have any accesories to hide this and it will be much more visable in a 68 mustang than in a Cobra with a forward opening hood.I did some testing with a set of CJ covers that I have.I liked the overall look but the covers don't fit very good.Especially the ends which are longer but also are kinda square where the windsor heads round off.

The original pics that you posted at the top of the page are of a Windsor motor.
Those valve covers on it are Boss "look-a-like" reproductions made to fit a Windsor head.
I have seen them before and they are offered with several scripts.
I'll do some digging.

mustangboy, I think what your looking for is the same valve cover as you posted but wider on the flat top part.

mustangboy, are you looking for Boss 302/351c looking valve covers or FE style?

I love the way Daniel Jones's engine looks. Very sharp looking.

Buster I'm looking for that "pentroof" sort of style.Basically where the valve cover is tall and kinda goes off to the outside and is flat across the top.Its hard to describe but if you look at the FE valve covers and the boss 302/cleveland covers you will see what I'm talking about...The trick is they have to fit on a windsor so original boss/cleveland/FE stuff is out(although the FE stuff will work with the adaptors).

What don?t you like about the valve covers in your first post of this thread? I think they?re very good looking.

In fact, I?m considering buying them myself for my 351 Windsor in the 1698 Mustang. Can you post a link to their web site? Although, I do wish they were a little bit wider on the top flat part. Even so, I really do like them.

Edit: They're kind of a Blend between FE, Boss 302 and 351C's covers.

I took the time to read all of your posts as well as asking you questions in this thread. I?ve been searching the net looking as well. I thought you were looking for the same style of valve covers as I was.

I also asked for a link to the covers you posted as well, to no avail. Don't bother and I won?t waste any more of my time in this thread either. Sorry, but I feel your comment was particularly rude for a member of this site.

I am building a 347 to put into my '70 Maverick. My initial idea was to make adapters, like the ones on my Fairlane, to put Boss 302 valve covers on it. I think I may just get a set of these new ones when they come out. It's too bad they have that logo on top (whatever it is, looks like BOSS something or other). I would prefer them with only the ribs.

Hopefully there will be other versions or maybe some aftermarket knock-offs of those new boss 302 covers..I wish I could even find a good picture of the topside of them.

You can't just adapt adapt Cleveland, FE or any other type of valve covers without watching for rocker clearance. The Windsor style rocker gets very close at the inboard side and most other types need the valve covers offset inboard. I think on a Cleveland valve cover the angle would be off and the top wouldn't be level.

I've seen the FE style pentroof aluminum covers that bolt on a Windsor, they look good, not sure who sells 'em.

Here's another type... check the prices!

If you look at my pictures above, you will see the FE valve covers on my Windsor. They have more clearance than the originals.
