I was loking to buy an aluminum radiator to cool down the 408w. I'm kinda on a budget, cant spend the money for a Smiths. I was looking at Grifin, Howe, Northern. Any suggestions on which may be the best. I want a 26x19 with 1.25 tubes. Its a daily driver so i'll have to sit in traffic. Thanks for and advice.Jason ------------------ 66' stang 408W, C4, 4.11 gears, 11.94 1/4 @113mph 367 RWHP & 373 RWTQ DAILY DRIVER

I have the 27.5x19 northern in my 70 mach and love it. Hasn't overheated on me yet in stop and go traffic in 100+ temps. The mach is my daily driver too, but is a 351w not a stroker. With a decent electric fan on there it will cool quite nicely. I thought i heard recently that Griffin or one of the big manufacturers went out of business.------------------ 1970 Grabber Blue Mach 1 H-code 1970 Fastback 2003 Torch Red Mustang

Save up your money so you only have to buy one once! For every guy I know who has had decent luck with a over seas cheapie, I know ten with horror stories. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,'04 &'05 First NHRA & IHRA 289 automatic Superstock Mustang in the TENS 06-99 First SS/MA in the TENS 04-03 IHRA division 5 Superstock Champion Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Alex, do you know off hand how much a Smiths radiator might be? Or at least a ball park estimate?Jason ------------------ 66' stang 408W, C4, 4.11 gears, 11.94 1/4 @113mph 367 RWHP & 373 RWTQ DAILY DRIVER

I bought mine from Crites. I think it was a Howe. It was resonably inexpensive, fit nice, and cools great. I run 2950 cfm electric fan and do not have the cooling problems I had with the stock radiator.Robert Loose

Jason, I bought my Griffin from a speed shop in Longmont,co. 4 row, large tubes and universal fit.It lowered the engine temp by 10 degrees in the dead of summer. Also put on an electric fan which helps alot as well.I think I paid 175.00 for it.They are 225.00 in Jegs.

Just remember that is a downflow radiator. If you want something that will bolt up and be the same size, then thats a good pick. If you want one to really cool your engine and have a noticeable difference then get a cross flow. They aren't a direct bolt-in (a few mounting brackets) but cool much more efficiently. ------------------ 1970 Grabber Blue Mach 1 H-code 1970 Fastback 2003 Torch Red Mustang

I have seen some NASCAR oriented radiators that had both connections on the same side. C&R is one of those manufacturers.

You'd need a dual pass crossflow radiator for outlets to be on the same size. Like the one in the link below: http://www.northernfactory.com/HP/detail.asp?PART=9636 Below is a list of all the dual pass sizes they have. Check with Summit if you decide to go the Northern route. http://www.northernfactory.com/HP/category.asp?CAT=RACE%20PRO%20RADIATORS&SUBCAT=19%20INCH%20DOUBLE%20PASS ------------------ 1970 Grabber Blue Mach 1 H-code 1970 Fastback 2003 Torch Red Mustang
