I am going to apologize first if this has been beat to death but I did a search and did not come up with anything. As the subject said the heads have been shaved and the block zero decked. I have a feeling the intake (alumi Torker) may not fit without some work. What is the procedure to determine if it fits and what to do about it? Put on gaskets, torque the heads down and sit it in? Feeler gauges between block/heads and intake? I'm obviously clueless but don't want vacuum leaks etc. when I'm done. Just need some kind of procedure to follow. Thanks in advance. ------------------ Jerry Cooper Candy Apple Red, 66' Coupe, Wide Ratio Toploader 9" 3.10 peg leg now, soon to be Traction Loc 302 Block on the Engine stand Soon to be 300+ HP 15" Styled Steel Wheels [This message has been edited by sprcoop (edited 01-10-2006).]

How much were the heads milled? If it was a small amount (.020 or less) everything will fit fine. The most important thing is to throw away the end intake manifold gaskets. Use some silicon to seal the ends but don't use so much it squeezes out. Put the heads on, put the side intake gaskets on and see how the intake bolt holes line up. If the bolts go in easily, remove the intake, put silicon on the ends and install the manifold. John

John is correct. If it's just a small amount you can skip the milling. The silicon will take up the space as needed. If they have been cut in larger amounts: http://www.summitracing.com/landing/mustang/ln_02feature.htm? Thanks guys, that is what I needed to know. I think it was milled .020 but I would have to dig up the machine shop invoice to be sure. It looks like it is going to be fine. When I set the intake in all bolt holes lined up and it fit like a glove. Thanks again.

Can you get the intake sides of the heads milled for proper alignment instead of taking material off the intake. Asking in the event the stock milled heads may be replaced with aftermarket peices, wouldn't want to have to buy another intake for proper alignment.

According to one website, small block Fords should have the port side of the intake milled .0143" for every .010" milled off the heads (that is their claim-not mine). Sure you can have the port sides of the heads milled instead, and it's the best idea if you think you'll be changing intakes or heads later. Then, any unmilled intake will fit your present milled heads, or any new (unmilled) heads you try.[This message has been edited by Polkat (edited 01-12-2006).]

I hadn't thought of what would happen if I put a new intake on. I could see that happening as the one going on (old Torker 289 that nobody seems impressed with) could easily end up being replaced with a Air Gap. The Torker seems to fit but all this stuff is so old who knows what has been shaved in the last 30 years or so.

In my experience all milling is done on the head not the manifold. If you cut the head then any manifold will fit, if you cut the manifold then any replacement manifold will need cutting also.A good machine shop knows how much needs cutting and will mill the intake face of the head. How do you think the manifold can be bolted to a head that has been angle milled .200? John
