Anyone here made their own headers? The reason I ask is I'm planning on stuffing my 460/C6 into my 68 F-100 this summer. I've looked all over, but haven't found anything as far as headers that will DEFINITELY fit. I have a welder and am willing to do the work, but I've seen those header "kits" and they are usually more expensive than headers that are already put together.Any advice or tips are appreciated.

What's the earliest year they put 460s in F150s?What like mid 70s? I'd bet a set of headers for an early 460 pickup would come close. ------------------ 63 Falcon 377 Cleveland stroker Flying Toilet alchohol injection. 6.19 @ 110 MPH 1/8 mile 2002 Ranger FX4 daily driver 2000 F350 PSD Crew cab dually - Like commuting in a B52!! 98 US Cargo Phantom II 28' [This message has been edited by Dad Vishus (edited 12-28-2005).]

I've heard that mid 70's truck headers will fit, but I've never seen proof of it.

Considering that my Hedman headers on my 74 F350 (390 FE)are supposed to fit a 66-79 chassis, I would imagine that headers meant for a pre 1980 460 pickup should fit your 68.Just be sure that the headers are for the same chassis style as you have. I believe that all the 66-79 2WD headers should be the same, but the 4x4`s are quite different, with the F100/150 4x4 different again from the F250. This was due to the front suspension on a 4x4. A F100/150 had coil springs, a F250 4x4 had leafs.------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed [email protected] 1.32 60 foot 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA M/Stock 302 5speed. First year for the 460 truck was 75. Headers for a 75 to 79 F series 460 should fit the 68. I've seen the swap done with a 72 using those headers.

These guys seem to make a lot of 460 swap headers.http://www.landlproducts.com/index.htm John I priced a set from them and they were 200 dollars cheaper from one of their distributors. [This message has been edited by JCQuinn@work (edited 12-29-2005).]

http://www.hedman.com/pages/swap-hedders/swap-trucks-ford.htmlHere are some from Hedman. Fenderwell exit, I believe. A friend has some L&L headers on his 4wd pull truck. Those suckers are HEAVY! The pair weighs 48 pounds! The flanges are around 1/2" and the tubes are super thick as well. They are 1-3/4" OD, but with the thick tubes, the inside is a little small. He had to do a little playing to get them to fit, but... He wants to move to the Hedman units. The 2" is supposed to only fit the CJ heads, but I'm sure they can be made to work. ------------------ Mike Burch 66 mustang real street 302 4-speed 289 heads 10.63 @ 129.3 http://www.geocities.com/carbedstangs/cmml_mburch.html http://www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/healey/367 http://www.mustangworks.com/cgi-bin/moi-display.cgi?220 [This message has been edited by n2oMike (edited 12-31-2005).] [This message has been edited by n2oMike (edited 12-31-2005).]
