Ok, I know there's more than a little 'friction' between our grass-roots approach to racing vs. multi-million dollar nitromethane operations. I personally am a big John Force fan. I still remember watching John 'Brute' Force at OCIR circa early 80's. He was a nut then, he's a nut now. Firery competitor, highly accomplished marketing strageist & negotiator, fan friendly, loves the camera. Very healthy for marketing professional drag racing IMO. Look at the level of competition in FC now compared to 15 years ago! Certainly not to say it's all him, but he's pushed alot of people to take risks that they might not have had that loose nut behind the wheel not coaxed them into it. At any Powerade event accross the country, guys like us are in the grandstands early to watch the sportsman classes run. Ever notice how full the stands get when the first fuel car lights? Wether we all like it or not, the Pro classes sell the most tickets and tv time, not to mention sponsorship dollars. That, unfortunately, is what drives every form of entertainment or sport out there... the allmighty dollar. Makes me want to puque. It does, however, give me several mail-order parts houses to buy from because of the demand, lots of competing manufacturing companies trying to build a better mousetrap, and guys like us win. More parts are becomming available, and better parts, due in large to the success of pro racing's infectious hold on the market (that's us). Again, I'm not saying that this is all of John's doing, but the popularity and growth of big-time racing spreads its influences far beyond the grandstands and pit area I've got a hat that I'm very proud of... Autographs include: John Force, Ashley Force, Eric Medlen, Gary Densham, Robert Height, Kenny Bernstien, Bill 'Grumpy' Jenkins, and my favorite (sorry Alex) Bob Glidden. He may have stirred up his share of sh*t, I can still remember as a small boy watching that Fairmont leave on every car in the field every time ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" 12.58/110 on street tires, more to come;) All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

I had the privilege of having John Force sign my FAA ticket at Cayuga Dragway Park in 1981. Like a fool I didn't save any of the paper work when I gave it up.

I used that on John once when he showed up in the press room at a Pomona race.He quickly looked over at me and I told him "gotcha!" He laughed it off and went right on being John Force. I know he's a motor mouth, but he is funny. They made a mistake once at Pomona and put a live mike in his car with no delay. Only did that once. John can get a little potty mouth in the heat of the moment. ------------------ SkinnyMan Tupelo, MS Thank you, Thank you very much!

A local Sewer Gas racer runs some of the midwest national events with his Chebby II At a event someone snapped a picture of his car launching, when they looked at the picture later, there in the background is John Force watching, they figured he just happened to be up there checking out the starting line. Later in the season at another event they were hanging out in their trailer, when a guy pokes his in the doorway and asks "this your hot rod" sure enough it was Force, seems he liked the chevy II and tracked it down in the sportsman pits for a closer look, the owner couldn't believe it, he showed Force the picture, Force said he had just been hanging out watching, the guy got Force to autograph it before he left.Roger

I read that article on the NHRA website earlier this week. John Force is my favourite driver (hence my username) and I have been to his raceshop a couple of times, I have also been at Pomona a couple of times to see him race, but I have never met him. I'm going back to LA for some vacation later this winter and I have planned in a visit to his raceshop in Yorba Linda again, if I'm lucky I might meet him then, who knows.H?kan Persson Sweden

While at the Memphis Nats., we were standing at his tlr looking at the car, no one was working on it & we were the only ones around. John looked out the door of his tlr & came straight out to my granddaughter, got down on one knee, she was about three feet tall, & talked to her for approx 5 min., signed her a shirt & gave it to her. Same day Cruz Pedregon & wife took her & her brother into their tlr/lounge & let them eat lunch with them. You should have seen the big smiles when they came out. Frankie & Tony were very kind to them too, taking time to talk to them & take pictures. All of them gained fans that day. BC

I got to talk to John for a while at the Division 7 race in Vegas a month ago. He had three daughters racing there and was just being a dad. Pretty cool guy and he was driving a white 05 Mustang. He also used the fibercan even though a couple hundred feet further away is a fancy washroom.
