My Torino replica continues to struggle on with inadequate photo resources
What would that red lever arrangement be in the pic? Would it be a kill switch for someone outside the car to use?
If it's not a kill switch, would this era of NASCAR cars have had them externally - or just one for the driver's use?
Many thanks!
Simon

That looks a lot like the battery cutoff switch used by drag cars these days.

No more takers? Going, going gone! Thanks Steve - a battery cutoff switch it is then!
Let me just try my luck. Does anyone know Richard Rodeck? He's the lucky fellow who now owns this car. I'd love to be able to drop him a line.

I see that the car has early Dura-Spark style ignition box(es)on the right side kick panel. My guess is that is what the switch is for. In the event that one failed, (as they were prone to do back then) the switch could be flipped to engage another module.
My second and most probable is that it is for a second or alternate battery.
My third choice would be to concur with Steve. That it is a kill switch, but I doubt that one. All the NASCAR kill switches I have seen are driver controled.
NASCAR motors must use mechanical fuel pumps (always have) so there is really no need for a kill switch.

Is this the same one? Well since I don't know how to attach the photo I guess you won't be able to answer....anyway I saw what I believe to be the same car at Laguna Seca a few years ago...got to sit in it and "blip" the throttle too...made my day!!!!

The ignition switch makes the most sense to me, too. Somewhere I have a magazine article on that car.
