Valve springs may be weak. Good springs solved my mystery lay down last year.Greg ------------------ '71 Torino GT 545 stroker, Ported Edelbrock CJ heads, 11.8:1 compression, Victor intake with 850 DP, TCI streetfighter converter, 4.56 detroit locker, full interior with A/C

Thanks for the reply, Iam uesing Edelbrock RPM heads that are 2 years old, But your right it acks like valve float i once had that problem with a hydraulic cam, Now its a soild lift cam.I just got done puttung the motor back togather i had a crack in the CID.wall and bought a new short block, And never had that problem with the old block. The only thing is differant is the old motor had 10.5.1 comp. now its 10.1 compression. I just came in and took all the plugs out and did a compression check they all look good 165-170.The #1 CID. plug is full of gas? Iam going to take the valve cover off and what i find, Thanks Ronnie------------------ http://groups.msn.com/ronniesracingphotos/ronniesfrontpage.msnw

Same thing happened to my cleveland this summer.High rpm miss/stumble at 5 to 6k.Determined I was way over jetted.Put in the stock jets and took care of 75% of the stumble.Replaced the plugs and problem solved.Three plugs were wet.

I doubt the springs are the cause,at least I would hope not.A wet plug will cause your high rpm miss.Hope it's as simple as that.Let us know the outcome.
