i have a 85 f-150 with a 302. the current exaust is just 2 catalytic convertors ( it rotted off right after the 2nd cat and it is very quiet so i just left the mufflers and tailpipe off and just turned the exaust down from the cat) when i mash the gas it spits and sputters then dies. at the end of the pipe there is a ton of heat but dont really feel any air coming out.i dont have a vacum gauge or i would check it that way. just want to have suspition before cutting the exaust up Thanx

that is an indication the cat(s) are bad. my experience with blocked cats, the car would barely move, almost no power.
