I bought a rebuilt 302 and c6 out of a van, however the c6 needs a band and a torque converter and to fit in my 68 would need the driveshaft shortened and linkage reworked if im not mistaken. I also have the c4 from my inline which Ive heard with a v8 bellhousing, TC, and another clutch in 3rd gear is the same as a v8 C4. My question is can I beef up my c4 and mate it to the c6 flywheel or am I going to need a different flywheel and starter?

I switched from a C6 to a C4 a few years ago. Used the same flex plate and a 164 tooth bell housing. Same starter. You can beef up the 6 cylinder C4 by adding the extra clutch or 2 the the direct drum. ------------------ Ben Grabber Green '70 Mach I 351C 4V Robbin Egg Blue '79 Fairmont 408C 4V, 10.50 127 MPH Prowler Purple '87 T'bird Turbo Coupe

So I will buy the bell housing and let the shop sort out the TC. Is this the correct bellhousing? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/5GDX-Ford-C4-C-4-Bell-Housing-Bellhousing-302V8-E2AP-CA_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33727QQitemZ7986827566QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V The depth of housing will be offset on the motor mounts right?[This message has been edited by chandler (edited 07-31-2005).]

No. That's NOT the right bell housing. That is a C5 bell. The depth will be wrong. You need one that is dated in the 70s. Not in the 80s. You need this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-C4-164-tooth-bell- housing-12_W0QQitemZ4564589858QQcategoryZ34208QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem or http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-C4-164-tooth-bell- housing-10_W0QQitemZ4564589972QQcategoryZ34208QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem or http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-C4-164-tooth-bell-h ousing-6_W0QQitemZ4564590437QQcategoryZ34208QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ------------------ Ben Grabber Green '70 Mach I 351C 4V Robbin Egg Blue '79 Fairmont 408C 4V, 10.50 127 MPH Prowler Purple '87 T'bird Turbo Coupe [This message has been edited by clevelandstyle (edited 07-31-2005).]

There arent any outstanding transmission shop around here to my knowledge. Would the ebay TC work or would it be to much stall for daily driving
