Buddy of mine has a Bronco that he rebuilt and has sat for a while. I helped him put the last nuts and bolts together. We have it running (idle) but when the throttle is opened there is only a minimal increase in RPM. I'd say maybe an increase of 500 RPM at WOT. When you advance the distributor the RPM raises fine. The mixture on the carb seems fine (per plugs). We changed the distributor out from a computer controled TFI deal to a Dura spark set up...same issues but it does idle better now.
I pulled the exhaust as it seems to have the symptoms of a clogged cat but to no avail.
I've manualy actuated the exhaust heat stove flapper valve dealio, it only changes the pitch. The only way I can increase the RPM is to manually advance the timing.
Unfortunatly I don't have a timming light to varify if the mech and vac advance are working. Sure doesn't seem like it, but I doubt both distributors are bad?
I'm sure it's something stupid simple?
