O.k. so my motor blew head gaskets again and I want to just put aluminum heads on it now. Look at my other post about the gaskets for the total combo. which heads do I go with. I want to make the most power possible without overdoing it. I was thinking the afr 185 heads. How will they work? Also do you need special headers or anything to run them, or special intake gaskets or different intake or anything? Will the felpro 1262 gasket work with the 185 heads? Anything else I should know about them. Please fill me in. I have 185's on my 289 and am very happy with them. Standard intake and valvetrain (stud mount type rockers) work fine. I used standard pushrods too. I run a solid cam w/150*@.050 and .550 lift. Standard headers fit but the tubes are a bit small, I am planning a set of big tube headers at some point, but the standard headers work. Standard intakes work fine. They are pretty much a bolt on deal. I used ARP head studs with mine and Felpro head gaskets (forget the number but I use the ones with the stainless ring). Go with the studs and not bolts.
