I have 7 nights on my 347 and we are having problems with the rocker arms. The trunion and bearings are trying to work out of the body. The polylock is rubbing on the inside of the rocker wich prevents it from coming apart. It did get bad enough to actually break the snap rings that are supposed to keep the trunion centered in the bearings. I thought that my cheap stud girdle may have been the culprit by stressing the studs but we ran without the girdle Saturday night and the rockers did the same thing. I do not want to mention the manufacturer until I get a better idea of why this is happening. Thanks for any thoughts. Jon

Sounds like you have some serious valvetrain geometry problems. Without any more info than you give, it is hard to say for sure, but it sounds like your geometry is putting a horizontal load on the rocker arm which it is not designed to take. Roller rockers are designed to rotate around the trunion without any side to side load. If you are breaking snap rings and the polylock is rubbing on the rocker arm then you have some major side to side loading. I would not be so fast to blame the rocker itself without looking at the rest of the valvetrain. Did you have to force the stud girdle into place? Are your valves in-line or canted? Do you have the right pushrod guide plates for the heads? Are the valve-stem tips flat and parallel? Are you using lash-caps? You'll have to give some more info to figure it all out but I wouldn't run it any more until you get it straightened out.

Cisco thanks for the reply. I'm afraid you are probably right about the rockers not being the problem. The heads are EBAY specials that are advertised as "Like Victor Jr's".... This whole deal will probably boil down to trying to use knock-off parts for low cost. Yes the stud girdle did not slip right on, the valves look fine and we are not using lash caps. Anyone else using these heads?
