I was wondering roughly what kind of cost I should be looking at to have my 289 balanced. My new (out of another 65 stang ) 289 is at the machine shop now and the guy at the shop asked me if I wanted it balanced. He said he would do it for $300.00 but I really do not know if this is a high/low or average cost to have this done. I would appreciate any and all of your input about this, I have to let him know by Monday morning if I want it done or not. If I do not get an answer to him by then I will have to wait another 3-4 weeks to get it done if I choose to do so, because he is so busy.------------------ JOHN 65 FASTBACK 2+2.....14.44 @ 107mph 1/4 87 TAURUS WAGON 03 F150 XLT SUPER CREW 4X4 SHORT BOX Member:Vancouver Island Mustang Association M&M #1710 65 FASTBACK 2003 F150 XLT SUPER CREW 4X4

Hi Steve, It is in Canadian $$$$`s, so in U.S. $$$$$$$`s it would be about $250.00. The motor is mild, about 350HP at the crank, I am just going with a cruiser, but I was thinking that I would get it balanced so that I have a bit more longevity out of it. I will put my foot into it, but I also want this one to last, so I figured that by balancing it, it will place less wear & tear on the whole assembly. ------------------ JOHN 65 FASTBACK 2+2.....14.44 @ 107mph 1/4 87 TAURUS WAGON 03 F150 XLT SUPER CREW 4X4 SHORT BOX Member:Vancouver Island Mustang Association M&M #1710 65 FASTBACK 2003 F150 XLT SUPER CREW 4X4 [This message has been edited by johnmustang (edited 06-19-2005).]

Is that in US HP or Canadian HP? LOL I would recommend doing it, if you miss this opportunity you won't really have a chance to go back and do it again. And you'll always wonder and wish you had. Soumds like a cool buildup, don't cut corners on it now.

I was thinking the same thing, do it now while I have the chance, and then it is over and done with and I will not have to second guess myself. ------------------ JOHN 65 FASTBACK 2+2.....14.44 @ 107mph 1/4 87 TAURUS WAGON 03 F150 XLT SUPER CREW 4X4 SHORT BOX Member:Vancouver Island Mustang Association M&M #1710 65 FASTBACK 2003 F150 XLT SUPER CREW 4X4

$250 US is a little high but not totally out of line. I think I paid $160 to do mine, but if they do a nice job $250 isn't the end of the world. You really should do a balance, if you don't you never know what you have. Unless you use all stock parts you may be no where near balanced. B-loose

I paid $250.00 Cdn. to get my 331 balanced here in the Niagara Peninsula. It's worth every penny to know that that all of the parts in there are working together.[This message has been edited by Rudi (edited 06-20-2005).]
