GOOD JOB, HANS!! Did you make any other changes to the car since last year besides the grille? How many other 351-Cleveland powered racers racing at your track? Ryan

Changes, let me think.... From the rear, new lightweight Hoosier radials(Standard Hoosier radials last year). 200 more rpms in the converter when the car begins to move. Now 5100 last year 4900. Jim made the changes for free. Thank you JPT . New Accel spark plug wires and Autolite racing spark plugs. Thank you Alex . We put on a new smaller radiator and a new lite weight powermaster starter, and added some lead in the rear. The driver also lost some pounds(15 i believe). All this along with some tuning advice from Alex made the difference so far. 1/8 mile time down to 7.21 from last years 7.32.There is one more 351C powered car, a 1972 Mach1 High Output stick shifted car running in D/S. His best run so far in the quarter mile is a 11.09(-0.710). Hans ------------------

Looking good Hans! The rain is not Scandinavian exclusive, I`m heading down to Seattle Washington for a NHRA Div. 6 points meet later today, the weather forecast is hardly encouraging. Our first Div.6 race at Mission is set to be fininshed in August, since it rained out after first round of elims. A few of our regular bracket races have also been marred with the wet stuff. Hey Hans, my buddy`s old 66 Chevelle SS/F car has been in Sweden for a couple of months now, have you seen it at all? I realize you likely don`t know every drag racer in the country, but I imagine there can`t be all that many Stock & S/S racers in Sweden, right?------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA M/Stock 302 5speed. Hey Rory, and others!I think the old Gordon Merkeley SS/F car is making its first race on scandinavian ground this weekend. At least the new owner was signed up there. Hans and Fredrik is also there. Weather forecast is looking good, I hope they will get a lot of rounds, even though it's just a 2 day event. Will let you know how it goes! Regards, Jocke, Sweden

Here are Hans and Fredriks results for todays qualifying: 5:th out of 15 cars, 11.425/118.44 mph (-0.725). I just talked to Hans; tailwind all the way helped out, but track was good. Air condition could have been better... The qualifying sheet didn't give classes, but there is a "new" driver with index 10.65(SS/F?), 10.36, 131.84 mph (-0.284). I guess that is the ex Merkeley car. They will have at least another qualifying round tomorrow if weather permits.regards, Jocke

Thank you for all the kind words. We were pitted next to the ex Gord Merkley Chevelle and meet him in the first round. Ford-1 Chevy-0 Round number two was a headsup race with the low qualifyer, a -69 396 Camaro. Ford, 11.54-116.8 Chevy 11.29-117.4 Fredrik took the lead with a 0.065 to 0.100 reaction time advantage, but it was not enough to beat the chebby. All in all a good weekend of racing. Hans, I talked to Gord Merkley the other night, he had talked to the guys with his old Chevelle. Aparently they only went 1.54 to 60 feet, which is way off from the mid 1.3`s the car normally ran here. It seems that they ran it with the clutch setup as Gordon had shipped it, which was quite tight to be a safe starting point. I`m a life long Ford guy, but I really liked that Chevelle, as I did my NHRA Competition licensing runs in it. It certainly was a FUN car to drive. Please keep me posted on their progress with it.------------------ 78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph 80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph 85 Mustang NHRA M/Stock 302 5speed. This is the qualifying result for the blue chevelle. You can see that the 60 feet time is 1.49. Speed is in KM/H but i think you can see that.12 118 Hans Nilsson 1,735 1,490 171,10 6,652 212,18 10,366 -0,284 10,65 I will keep you posted on their progress. ------------------
