From his post......
As if we don't have enough to do, we are starting on a big block Ford book. What I want to do is build a good cross section of big Ford engines, while documenting all the prep, assembly and dyno work, and write a story about each one. We will try to make it where a guy can follow what we did and he'll know what parts and machine work will be needed as well as the power he can expect. Right now I have 8 builds in mind. They are:
460 with Scott's iron heads
460 SCJ and our new head (We'll call it P-51 head for now)
514 SCJ & P-51
557 SCJ & P-51
600 P-51 & TFS(A-460) & C-460
600 twin turbo C-460 (Roger's, that works for us)
700 Blue Thunder CNC ported "Thor" Heads
815 IHRA Pro Stock Hemi
The 557 and smaller will be stock blocks. Most of it will be common sense stuff that anyone can duplicate.
Writing a book has always been on my "life's to do list". The reason it has to start now is the 700" Thor head motor. These are the most beautiful Ford wedge heads I've ever seen, and we need to take pictures of the buildup before in goes together.
What I need is everyone's input as to what they might like to see; what parts and prep are mysteries to people? Also what engine buildups would you like to see that's not listed? This project will take over a year, so we can change our minds all we want on what's in it. It is starting next week.
Let's hear what you think! --- Kaase
