Hello All, New poster, lurking for a while. I hope to get some opinions on heads. My oldest friend and racing buddy has finally decided to build a stroker for his 67 stang. He's decided on a 393 windsor and wants to go with alum heads. He's looking at the Kaase and AFR heads right now. Will be making the purchase in the next few days. Ordered the rotating assembly already with a 14cc dished piston to get 10.5 compression with the Kaase 60cc chamber. He's undecided. Kaase runners are 240ccs, AFR are 205. Are the kaase heads too big? Will be running a solid roller (specs up in the air too.) Wants 550hp. 7000-7500 rpm. Pump gas. Wants to stay under $2000 for the heads. Any wisdom from the group, before he makes a mistake? Thanks for any input. James Pearson

Howdy James. How's the Rancho running? There are 2 cars that regularly run at Roxboro that both have AFR 225 heads. One is a 331 and runs low 6.30's; the other is a 347 that runs 6 teens. Based on that, I would stick the AFR heads on it and steer away from the Kaase heads. I think they are too big for anything except a hi-rpm big inch full race motor.

I like AFR. Flow numbers are good all the way across the board.

Thanks for the input, it looks like he's going with the time tested AFR's. Doesn't want to be the guinea pig when $1800 is on the line.
