Well I bought some flowtech ceramic coated headers for 65-73 mustangs
Everything looks good with the exception of a small pin hole in one the welds at the collector. I can send it all back but was wondering if this tiny hole will matter (in previous experience small holes like that make a LOT of noise). Also considering just having someone touch it up with the welder but then that one spot wont be protected from the elements? (for such cheap set of headers it hardly seems worth sending it back - im not expecting to get a lifetime of use out of them anyway)

What do you guys think? They came from Summit and I know they will honor their satisfaction garantee.

send'em back. As soon as you hit it with a welder, it'll probably crack the coating all the way around it...

Summit is excellent about returns, they paid shipping on the items I returned a couple of years ago. I paid the shipping and they gave a credit equal to that amount.

Its just so hard to send something back - all the excitment of getting it - its such a dissapointment. I will call summit tonight and ask them about it. Ive never sent anything back before but I dont want noisy or rusty headers.

A dab of muffler cement should fix it.

Yep, or JB Weld. Is this on the 3 bolt collector flange...does it even go into the tube?

its a tiny hole in the big weld that joins the 4 runners to the collector. The hole therefore is best described as being a hole in the collector. I was wondering about those muffler putty type things just not sure if it will stay put for long.

The muffler cement dries hard as a rock.

Where can you get the muffler cement?
Sounds like that would be worth a try, sounds like something I'd like to keep around the shop.

I just have a problem spending money on something that is broken or otherwise doesn't work out of the box. In the computer biz, that generally is how you describe a money pit... seems to be that way in cars as well. After you try to fix it, they generally won't take it back, even though the original problem is theirs.
