I'd run 1/2" Russell/Earles hard line (anodized bendable aluminum)under the car. and -8 everywhere else.
-10 sounds too big to me.

Id run an electric fuel pump and an adjustable regulator.

My opinion, the -10 isn't too big. That's what I have on my car and it works fine (but I have a Holley 350 Dominator fuel pump.) I think you have 2 issues; one is the block mounted fuel pump (I would ditch it entirely), and the second is your electric pump isn't big enough. But maybe the electric pump just can't push fuel thru the mechanical pump fast enough to feed the motor. First thing I would do is remove the block mounted pump and see what it does. If it still runs out at the top end, I would buy a bigger fuel pump.

#10 is not too big.
Just right.
Lose the mechanical pump.
It's just a restriction at this point.

It's not too big, BUT it's way bigger than you need.

You shouldn't be pressurizing the inlet side of the mechanical. It's best to put a Tee fitting at the mechanical pump's inlet and return excess fuel back to the tank.

Tom,

Why shouldn't you pressurize the fuel to a mechanical pump?
