John, the answer depends on what you are going to do with the car.

In general there is not much difference in any of the stock cast iron heads other than chamber volume.

If you want higher performance you need to go to GT-40 at least.

This is going to be a budget bracket racer,I have 3 sets of heads.I have a set of 83GT with 69cc,a set of 89 E7TE with 64cc,and a set of C9TE with 58cc. One of these sets of heads are going on a 302 short block (with pistons that are dished in the center with 4 valve releafs)why you ask...because that is what I have right now and it won't cost much to get this engine running and I'm not looking to set any records with this car,Just a car that will run almost the same time after time, and go rounds.I'm trying to run the points races at RT66 next year!Alex what do you think? You gave me a cam # that I should run,But after taking off the heads and finding out that there are dished pistons in it...Now what would I use for a cam? Back to the drawing board!
