I had thought I had read somewhere that Alex was racing this weekend. Did he and or how did he do? I think it would be kind of nice if when members raced they did a post and gave a little info as to how they did so us non racing members can live vicariously through others. ------------------ -1974 351w Block Bored .30-1969 351w Heads Fully Ported -Custom made Ford 9" with 3" Axle Tubes-28 Detroit Locker-3.73 Gears-Shelby Traction Bars Pics Michael

Not sure about Alex, but we didn't race this weekend. Got a new fuel cell plumbed in my car though. Looking for a race in the next couple weeks.... My daughter Melissa raced her '66 last Wednesday night at Infineon and went out in the 1/4 fianls of box class. Hope that helps, Spencer Neft got runner up in H.S. last Wednesday night too.SteveW

Next weekend then. Will be waiting to hear the results. Is Melissa the same from the article in Hot Rod? I am still trying to learn who everyone is, for some have names and others have member names and I hear names used and not sure who they are. I am fairly new to this and am reading posts and trying to pick up some info and knowledge. Plus learn who races and who follow and have vast knowledge to share. I think it would kind of be interesting to have a form for race results where everyone who races can share their success and experiences. ------------------ -1974 351w Block Bored .30-1969 351w Heads Fully Ported -Custom made Ford 9" with 3" Axle Tubes-28 Detroit Locker-3.73 Gears-Shelby Traction Bars Pics Michael

Yep, that's my daughter. Spencer is a freind of ours, Sam's son. Glen Phillips races a '67 428CJ 4 spd Mustang GT and does pretty well. (1st in Sportsman points so far) SteveW

We (KK and myself) went last weekend for our first points race of the year. I lost 4th round due to my own screw-up, and KK lost second round. Both of us are running footbrake. I was faster car in 4th round, treed my opponent, caught him, got around, hit the brakes too hard and let him back around me by .005. My car is running so much mph vs ET that it is fooling me about as much as it is fooling my competition. A car running mid 6.40's normally shouldn't be running almost 109 mph in the 1/8.

I went to the Palmdale National Open this weekend, Mostly for a Tune-Up for next weekend. Next weekend is the NHRA National Event in Las Vegas, I qualified 5th out of a field of 13 and only 8 cars stayed to race sunday. The poor turnout was due to NHRA not having thier Sh@# together with letting people know it was going to happen and rumors that you couldn't get a Grade Point for coming. Fridays Test-N-Tune was great I was running mid 10.90's with 1.39 60ft times into a head wind, Saturday the track was real loose due to sand on the track "PalmDirt" high 11.00's with mid 1.40 60ft times. Sunday was beautiful however several cars left due winds on Saturday and there were alot of Bye Runs first round. I was a beneficiary of one of these first round, Second round I drew the #1 Qualifyer long time Ford SS racer Fred Moreno. I dialed 10.95 to his 10.00 and I cut a .033 to his .034, I left the line in the air but quickly found myself heading towards the left guard rail; after landing I got it straiten'd out I ran a 11.02 and he took the stripe by .010 I just lost lane choice on a bad track.

I recall when Palmdale and Lancaster was known as pretty much just desert, so I can imagine the sand everywhere. I am going to have to learn some as I grasp about 1/4 of the terms. I am guessing that to make it to the quarter finals would depend on how many cars there were as to how many runs were made and won? Or is there a set amount of runs? My car has been raced( just not by me) I do drive it a few times a week. I have a weekend show the second week in May in downtown Riverside with 800 cars. On Sunday anyone entered can run at California Speedway. I still have some work to do and am not sure I am ready to try it yet, plus when my nephew built the car he disconnected the E-Brake as it was the only way to run the exhaust he used and pretty much think it would be needed for the inspection they do before. The one condition my wife gave when I got the car was that I could not race it, but she is thinking she may allow it just to see what it can do. I try to tell her it is close to how I get on the freeway as I do not drive fast but I tend to get there quickly.------------------ -1974 351w Block Bored .30-1969 351w Heads Fully Ported -Custom made Ford 9" with 3" Axle Tubes-28 Detroit Locker-3.73 Gears-Shelby Traction Bars Pics Michael

I always wondered how he raced it with out one. I do have all the rest. As sheet metal behind seat, catch can, battery in trunk, roll bar, ratchet shift and probably some things I don't know about. I will have to look into it. Thanks.------------------ -1974 351w Block Bored .30-1969 351w Heads Fully Ported -Custom made Ford 9" with 3" Axle Tubes-28 Detroit Locker-3.73 Gears-Shelby Traction Bars Pics Michael
