My question is if I put a 5.0 motor into my 66 mustang changing the flexplate to 50oz 157th, and change the front timing chain and cover to the old 66 style will I be able to put a waterpump on it for the 66 style pass inlet and use the alternator and water pump pulleey as well as the four bolt crank pulley. I realize the serp belt would have to be shorter. How long should the belt be
My question I guess is what problems am I going to encounter. pulley allingment and such.
I am asking this because I am low on funds and I have a 5.0 crown vic to swap this from.
My 302 is blowing smoke out the dipstick and wherever it can. I figured great canidate for a 347. I would like to take my time with this rebuild and not have to rush so I can still drive my mustang..
please help
I am sure some one has done this before! right?

A friend of mine swapped a FMS 302 into his '67 Bronco. He used the cover and pump from the 289 and the 4 bolt balancer from the 5.0. He got a 4 bolt V-belt pulley from? and bolted it to the balancer and all is good. The pulley was polished aluminum, but they are available. I think the serpentine belt is the wrong direction for the 289 style water pump and it is not an option.

No power steering or ac nothing but waterpump and ALT. seems it would spin the same as a v belt only you are use serp pulleys..Am I missing something??? or is this seem likey??

Ford Racing (I think) sells a harmonic balancer for this swap, uses the old pulleys but has the correct balance.

This should be possible depending on the year of the Crown Vic. If it had full serpentine, I don't think it will work. My 85 donor car has grooves on the water pump pulley, it is the same direction as the standard 302. The ones without grooves, the back of the belt rides on them, turn in reverse.
