I just found it on DRC. Man, this is really horrible! My prayers are with her family! From Drag Race Central: By Bob Frey Photo copyright 2005 Robert Grice TULSA, Okla. --
Shelly Howard It is with great sadness that we report that Top Alcohol Dragster driver Shelly Howard was killed yesterday in an accident at Tulsa Raceway. Shelly was participating in an exhibition run while testing at the track when her car went out of control and became airborne at about half track. When the car came back down on the track, it reversed direction and headed back toward the starting line where it crashed into the team's tow vehicle. Shelly's son, Brian, who was in the tow car at the time, was also injured and later died as a result of those injuries. Further details are not known at this time and will be posted as they become available. Please keep the Howard family, especially Shelly's husband, Paul, and her two daughters in your thoughts and prayers. ------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-302-7.25 @93mph 1/8 1.54 60 ft. http://community.prestage.com/Member+Pages/789.aspx M&M member #839

I can't imagine a more frightening incident that that one. It sounds like it was similar to Garlits blowover in the 80's and a current A/FD "alky" car is as fast as a Top Fueler was back then. My condolences to Doctor Howard and his daughters.

That hits home pretty hard. The Force team must be doing some soul searching. SteveW

I never knew Shelly but I have seen her go down the track lots of times. When I was at the starting line with my friend Ed Schmeekle I got to see her up close. Always a first class operation and very dedicated racers. This is a loss for drag racing as well as her family.John

this is from the nhra website: "Former two-time Division 4 Top Alcohol Dragster driver Shelly Howard died Saturday, April 2, as the result of injuries suffered in an exhibition pass at a non-NHRA track in Tulsa, Okla., in an incident that also claimed the life of her son Brian"does it being a "non nhra" track make it any less tragic?? bunch of azzholes just trying to cover their azz already!! ------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-302-7.25 @93mph 1/8 1.54 60 ft. http://community.prestage.com/Member+Pages/789.aspx M&M member #839

Tulsa Raceway Park is an I.H.R.A. sanctioned track that has been totally revamped in the last year. Good enough track for Ron Fassl to set a record for AA Fuel Altered 5.29/278 last summer. Just wanted to set the record straight about the track. My condolences go out to the Howard family. Thanks, Tom
