Greetings, I am about to put my 66 fastback on a homemade rotisserie. I have completely striped the car with the exception of the front and rear suspension and the doors. I have attached the front rotisserie to the bumper mounts on the sub-frame and the rear to the bumper mounts on the body. I am relatively sure that the uni-body should be able to handle the stress but I have horrible visions of turning my beloved into a pretzel. Any advice would be appreciated. Rich

I've seen cars with a fabricated bar in the door jam to keep it from collapsing. Just a simple bar from the top hinge mount to the lock mount. I would think 1x1 tubing would be good enough for insurance. But I have never put a car on a rotisserie myself. Tracy

I was thinking that the doors should work as a brace? Rich

a bud of mine has one for his 55 Chevy... just the body, not the frame. No problems. No suspension either tho... as long as the doors are in there, seems it would be fine. I might make a brace myself tho, get a couple of 2x4s and just wedge them in there good... but considering these cars have to moderately survive a rollover, and the top will never actually touch the ground in this case, you should be fine.

I skipped right over the part where you said you left the doors in. They will work fine. Watch things the first time you open the doors. You are supporting the weight of the car from the very ends - farther apart than with the car on wheels on the ground. This can put some odd stresses on the car.Tracy

Fastback won't be a problem even without doors if the unibody isn't to rusty. Only time you need door braces is for a convertible

We've got a 65 fastback sitting on a rottisserie where i work, it attaches using the stock bumper mounting holes and that seems quite solid when moving the car around. The center of gravity is about even with the lower edge of the fuel filler hole. That should be about the height where the pivot rotates.
