Inline of the positive battery cable so as the switch will cut power from the battery.

Hi guys. I installed switches on my tractors, on the negative wire. An old mechanic told me that if you put it on the positive, it sparks the connection every time you turn it on or off and makes it wear faster.
So far, it's been working correctly.
Just my 2 cents.

If you have an alternator, you may find that the engine keeps running, even after you turn the battery switch. If you are just using it as a battery isolater that is fine. But if it is to be used as a kill switch, then you might have to use a 6 terminal unit.

Are you using it to meet racing rules? The alternator connection needs to be on the battery side of the switch so it can be used as a kill switch to kill the motor.

you must run the output wire from your alt. to the battery side of the switch. otherwise the engine will keep running when you turn off the kill switch. good luck

Really quite simple, Dubz....

with the battery relocated to the trunk.....and the Master cut off switch mounted at the rear of the car (within easy reach of track personnel...and marked as to which way is "off")......The "Positive" terminal of the battery is linked to one side of the switch...(either side....does NOT matter)........the other side of the Switch is then routed to the front of the vehicle....(normally to the starter solenoid).....and from there to the different 12 volt connections required.....

IF there is an alternator in the equation....that wire goes back to the battery side of the Switch at the rear of the vehicle........so that ...in case of an emergency..when the Switch is turned to the "off" position.....ALL power to the vehicle is terminated!!

Hope this helps!!

I have a question, I have a four post Moroso switch that I'm installing in my 68 coupe. Can I run the power wire From my MSD Box to the little post on the switch and then a jumper from the other little post to the batter post on the switch? Will this shut off my car with Alt. if I cut off power to MSD Box?
