I will be using a 1987 roller block engine bored 30 over with a Edelbrock setup(rpm performer heads and intake). That will produce about 350-380 hp. The shop says it will be 9.6:1 compression. Will the Super duty T-5 transmision be a good match? It is rated at 330 ft/lbs. of torque.

Don't powershift... speedshifting isn't really good at that power level.T5 just isn't meant for abuse, it was picked by bean counters. Over on corral.net forums, you wouldn't believe how many people blew up T5's without powershifting. They just can't handle a lot of power. At your power level, it should hold up if not abused, but if you haven't gotten the T5 yet, check out the Tremec TKO. For a more personal example, my cousin's stock 92GT with bolt ons put out more torque than the regular T5 could handle, buggered up 2nd gear quite well.

The car was originally a 6 cyl 3 speed manual trans. Is there any parts that I can re-use? quote: Originally posted by 74merc: yea, Tremec has two or three different points for the shifter.

the clutch linkage will be different. The bellhousing will be different... different flywheel and clutch/pressure plate...The clutch pedal would be fine... tranny crossmember will probably work... Nothing else comes to mind that would make the swap, but that would be the same as swapping to a V8 and T5 anyway. I'm not sure of the original shifter. I'll have to hand that one off to someone else...
