It's getting close to being done, and I am tying up all the loose ends to get it finished.

I am one of the stubborn few that believes the color a car was painted at the factory should stay on the car forever, or until it goes to the crusher. I scraped all the seam sealer and caulking from the inside floorpan and trunk area and prepped it for paint, all that crap added up to about 15 extra pounds. The car will have no carpet or headliner, so I wanted the interior to look clean and sanitary. I matched the color of the outside of the car in an oil based enamel that I bought at Lowes, and painted everything in sight. Though I could have sprayed the inside, I did it the Lo Buck way, with a brush and roller, and I must say that it came out awesome.

Since the fuel cell is in the engine compartment, no rear firewall will be needed, which saves a little weight.

The trunk was also painted, and the battery hold down bracket and battery box were installed.

An old school Moon gas pedal was installed in place of the broken original, and a piece of aluminum diamond plate was made to cover the brake pedal.

An adjustable throttle stop was fabbed up to keep the throttle blades straight, and also to keep the throttle from hanging wide open.

I used push loc hose and fittings on the oil pressure line and also on the tranny cooler lines. The hose is a 300 psi. Goodyear nylon braided hose that is extremely tough. The #4 line on the oil pressure gauge and cooler lines are also easier to plumb, as all you do is cut the hose to length, lubricate the inside of the hose, and puch it on the fittings, no clamps are needed.

A shifter lock out was built that will not allow the tranny to go past drive once it is locked in place.

Check the rulebook on the rear firewall... i think it's needed when the battery is in the back.

The brush and roller paint looks great.

Looks great! I'm with what Steve said a few days ago. I'm amazed at how fast you get things done.

Tom is right on the battery. NHRA rule book, General Regulations 8:1. You must have a .024 steel or .032 aluuminum firewall between you and the battery OR the battery must be mounted in a SEALED .024 steel, .032 aluminum or NHRA accepted poly box. The sealed box must be vented to the outside.

The poly box type is like this:

I would just get a sheet of .032 or .040 aluminum and make a simple firewall. Cut it out via a cardboard pattern and then pop rivet/caulk it in place.
