All these years I've used the same rubber mounts on my car. On the driver's side I have a mount that's riveted together to keep it from seperating that I found in the junkyard, and on the passenger's side I have the standard issue deal.I'll probably just fab up some solids, but I was wondering if anyone sells them? Also, you guys running solid mounts, you still run the rubber mount on the tranny, right? ------------------ '68 mustang 351 clevor- 10.92@124 '67 Stang, 351W -11.18@118 '69 351C Torino-14.90@100 '78 Pickup 351W-15.56@88 '79 Pickup 460 ET=??

You must maintain a flexible trans mount if you have solid motor mounts with an automatic or stock stick bell housing.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,'04 &'05 First SS/MA in the TENS! I just ordered a set of "Prothane" polyurethane mounts from Summitfor my 331-68 Mustang. A friend has them on his 418-67, they look indestructable![This message has been edited by Rudi (edited 03-18-2005).]

One of the companys that sells poly engine mounts for FOX bodies sells all three (two engine mounts and the trans mount) as a kit... so I'd say you are ok.------------------ Mike Burch 66 mustang real street 302 4-speed 289 heads 10.63 @ 129.3 http://www.geocities.com/carbedstangs/cmml_mburch.html http://www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/healey/367 http://www.mustangworks.com/cgi-bin/moi-display.cgi?220

Check out the motor mounts from Total Control Products, They're awesome. And build yourself a torque strap from the front of your driverside head to the frame to limit travel of torque movement. leave yourself 1/2" of play in strap. some people use a chain, some use a turnbuckle, I custom made one out of seatbelt material with custom brackets.

I'm surprised. I figured there would be measurable block/cylinder distortion when using solid mounts. I figured you would try and isolate it a little and use poly or rubber mounts... along with good torque straps. ------------------ Mike Burch 66 mustang real street 302 4-speed 289 heads 10.63 @ 129.3 http://www.geocities.com/carbedstangs/cmml_mburch.html http://www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/healey/367 http://www.mustangworks.com/cgi-bin/moi-display.cgi?220

MM has motor plates that I call elephant ears with a prothane type trans mount Mike. Look at the pics on the M&M phot page. I could sent you a pattern for your car. The two Fox cars have modified ASP solid mounts with pothane type trans mounts. That pretty much the standard deal we use on all Fox cars we set up. Filled blocks don't distort. Especially the A4 in MM. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,'04 &'05 First SS/MA in the TENS!
