I'm wondering what you guys used to wipe off motor parts before you install them? I would like to wipe things clean just before applying assembly lube and such to make sure they are free of dust and dirt. In the past if I have used red shop rags there is all kinds of lint left behind. What do you guys use? I know compressed air would be good but what about wiping off lite oil or grease? Thanks, B-loose

Cloth baby diapers work great and are lint free.

see how many folks chide me for this...old, clean, red shop rags don't leave lint, and mineral spirits takes care of oil film.

We use a healthy dose of 3M brake parts cleaner and the blue SHOP towels that you get like a paper towel roll. They never seem to leave must of anything leftover other and a very clean, dry surface. Both are inexpensive to purchase and have multi functions.
