Rob,I think you once mentioned that you used Klotz Uplon synthetic top lube when you were on alcohol. How did you mix it? Some say 1 qt/55 gallon drum. Others say to mix it at 1/2 qt per drum. I've always used Power Plus. Never had a poblem with fouled plugs or anything, but I did notice the intake runners and intake ports were sorta "greasy" when I pulled it apart to freshen it up a few weeks ago. The Power Plus was 1 bottle/drum. Thought I would try the Klotz. I ordered a few quarts of it today. Since it's synthetic it's not supposed to foul plugs or clog anything. Other alky racers please feel free to chime in here. BTW, I was shown a site that sells it for online $6.95/qt. Cheaper than any other place I looked at. Since I always bought my fuel 5 gallons at a time I mixed it per jug. I always ran it 3 ounces per 5 gallons. But I was using the 'stinky' stuff in it also at that time. When I was running just the Uplon without any scent, I ran it 4 ounces per 5 gallons. (Sometimes I ran it 4 ounces per 5 gallons anyways and it never seemed to hurt anything.) I never fouled a plug when I was on alchy. I know that almost all the alchy racers at Eddyville swore by the stuff. I had heard some people having issues with the PowerPlus gelling up in real cold weather and plugging filters. That all may have been rumor or blame being placed in the wrong place, but the folks with those issues did all have the same toplube in common.

Supposedly the Sunnoco and VP already have the top lube in the fuel. I have run alky on my dirt nodified and stock cars for the past 20 years, and I have only heard about the top lube for the past 6 or 7 years. In the old days we would pour a few ounces of Marvel Mystery oil in the fuel cell, along with a little nitro, and we never had a problem.

the stories about power plus are true. found out the hard way, it will gell up. ESPecially in cold weather. I'll never use power plus again. I've been using a light blend of royal purple we use at work in our industrial air compresors. No issues thus far. going on 2 years, Very light oil.

One ounce/gallon Klotz degummed Racing Castor has been a staple of the the truck and tractor pulling crowd for years. The bigger issue with Alky isn't lubrication of moving parts ( I dare say gasoline is a poor lubricant ), it is corrosion. Methanol has an affinity for H2O and will wreak havock on aluminum fuel systems that are not anodized. We don't leave methanol in the fuel systems even overnight. We always flush with gasoline/oil mix and store fuel in sealed container ONLY. Maybe the humidity here in the midwest causes special problems, but if you ever tore a pump or carb down and found it full of white powder (aluminum oxide) the extra effort seems well worth it.

Thanks guys,The Klotz came in UPS yesterday. Just decided to give it a try. I've never had a problem with Power Plus gelling up or anything. Just a little greasy in the intake ports. Dusty, I run the alky in a Flying Toilet. Cool thing about it is that the pump and nozzles are brass and all the aluminum parts int he fuel distribution block and barrel valve are hard anodized. No corrosion at all after 2 yrs. I never drain the system during the season. I'll drain it for the winter, but during the season I just shut it off. I pull the fuel shut off and let it pull the fuel out of the lines. A squirt of WD40 in the throttle body I'm I'm done. For the winter I fill the pump with engine oil and cap off. I also take everything apart and give it a WD40 coating. David Cole
