I am building a 1987 HO 302 rollor motor bored 30 over, edelbrock thunder seris carb, edelbrock rpm performerer intake, edelbrock performer heads, KB forged pistons, shorty headers, T5 trans, a posi 9" rear end with 3.50 gears and 26" total rear end tire size. It will be a show car.I want to have a nice rough idle. What type of cam should I use? Lou.

I'd think something in the 280 Advertised duration range should give you a fairly rough idle and still work your brakes. Of course I like smaller cams on daily driven cars. Comp cams has plenty of different grinds on their web site.

Its a show car, not a driver??? That and because its is a stick, I would go a little more aggressive. I had a b303 cam in a 5.0, which if i remember is around 280 dur. and .480 lift. Really kind of mild. It had a nice, "I mean business" burble to it and a little stutter at idle, but I wouldn't call it "a rough idle".
