....I am trying to find out if there were ever any headers available for 65 mustangs as a special factory order or special dealer order. I need to find specific information or a part number to verify the information so I can put these headers on my car. They were going to change the status of collector plates here in British Columbia, but have now decided to put the issue on the back-burner for a couple of years. If anybody can help me out with this I would really appreciate it, the more information I can gather the better the chance that I can put headers on my car

EDIT: These parts and/or part numbers would not include anything exclusively available to the Shelby mustang, they must have been available to all mustangs (at least the ones with a 260 or 289)

John,
Do dealer-installed items count, or do they have to be things the dealer special-ordered and the factory installed?

Dealer installed items would probably count especially if it had a ford part number on it and/or if there is some way to get verification that dealers were actually doing this.

I think the tri-y headers were in the over-the-counter high performance catalog, and the dealers would also install parts for you. Alex would probably be the guru to get a definative answer on this.

Both tri-y headers and even lakers were dealer installed options in 1965-66.
Anything in the Ford Perfomance or Shelby cataloge was available as dealer installed back then.
Here is a link to the Performance cataloge.
