I believe the regular small block, FE and big block C6s are all the same length. The 429 CJ / SCJ C6 has a longer tail. I have no idea about the 428 CJ tranny though.

So it doesn?t matter what car it came from like it would with a toploader 4-spd?

If you want to give us a length on yours, I can run a tape measure over C6s from a 68 T-bird (390) and a 71 (?) T-bird (429) later this week. I had the 390 tranny alongside a 390 Cougar tranny last week and they were identical.
Have you identified the bellhousing yet? Small, FE or big?

Hey Simon, if the 390 Mustang and the 390 T-bird are the same than I guess that?s a good indication that the FE C6s are the same length. I just wasn?t sure since there is a difference when it comes to manual transmissions but that probably also has something to do with shifters and linkage lengths also.
