I'm having trouble getting my old lifters out. What is the best way of getting them out?------------------ Alan 1967 Mustang coupe "Project Under Construction" 2003 Mustang conv. Will race for food

I don't know what you've tried yet, and I'm assuming you don't want to re-use them, so here's some ideas..There is a little wire bail in the center of the lifter, you might be able to get a small hook tool under there and pull up a little. If the lifter is 1/2" out you can grip it with a ViseGrip and twist and pull it up. They make a lifter removal tool that goes down inside the lifter and then expands outwards to grip it so you can pull up. If you really want to destroy them you could thread a body slide-hammer into the center oil hole and use the hammer to pull and knock them out. If the engine is out of the car you can rotate the cam to raise the lifters, then pull the cam out, then use a long screwdriver and hammer from underneath to knock them out. Scott
