I found an apparently sweet deal on an 89 marine 302. Sunk, flushed and thoroughly lubed, for sale from a guy that just wants to be rid of it.Suppose to be forged crank, rods and pistons, I *think* roller cam, but I'm not certain. All I know for sure is it is a 1989 Mercruiser. Does anyone have any info? Know anything about the differences in general? ------------------ 74 Mercury Comet 302, leaking Performer 289 intake, Autolite 4100, Hooker Super Comps AOD 3:1 My website

No steel crank for sure. All the ones I have seen are regular HO 302 engines with typical marine modifications.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,'04 &'05 First SS/MA in the TENS! damn...well, I'll see if it is in fact a roller, its still worth $200... but I was more interested in the forged crank than anything else. While we're kind of on the subject, how high can you turn a stock crank if balaced?

Depends on the crank. Let's see what you have in there first. My 1X 289 FoMoCo cranks go over 9K every pass. The later model HO cranks are very "light duty" and can't stand much more than 7K from our experiance.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,'04 &'05 First SS/MA in the TENS! Well, I have no idea what the marine engine is, could be an 89, could be it was replaced in 89...I do have a 74, 77 and 84 crank. I take it earlier is stronger?
