This is a '66 Falcon race car I started building a few months ago. I bought the body for $40.00 as it was on the way to the scrap yard. I am building this car with everything I have on hand, very little will be bought new. It is all recycled parts, or parts that I built. It will be powered by an alky burning 351 W out of my IMCA modified. Power will go back tp a 'Glide with a 5500 converter, and a brake. The rearend has Dutchman 35 spline axles,5.29 gears a Mark Williams centersection, and a Strange spool. It has Cal Trac type bars that I made, in-boarded leafs. sub-frame connectors that I built, and a lot of cool tricks.

The engine is in, and all I have to do is install all the little details to get it running.

The fuel system is plumbed, I raided my parts bins and found all the fittings and hose needed to plumb the system. The fuel filter is a Fram HPG-1 that my dad bought 30 years ago. The 2 gallon Jaz fuel cell came off my engine test stand.

The front bumper was mangled, so I beat it back strait with a dead blow and liberated it with a 4" hole saw. I also tossed the gravel shield, and pulled the bumper in 2". The grille is off a later year car, which did not fit that well, but after a little work with a hacksaw, it bolted right on.

I talked to a buddy that works at a Ford dealer about getting me an aluminum driveshaft, and he gave me three that come off cars that have vibration problems. One of them was the exact right length, and all I had to do was change the front yoke to the 'Glide yoke. I later found out it came off a Police pursuit Mustang. It is 3 1/2" in diameter, and it is a very nice piece. The beat part was that it was free.

I am waiting for a shipment of chrome moly tubing to install the roll cage, so I took the time to install some weld- thru the floor kickers that tie the sub frame connectors to the rockers. They are made from 2 x 3" x .083 rectangular tubing that is by far stronger than weding the roll cage to floor plates.

I also started my weight reduction program on the car by swiss cheesing the rear bumper with a 4" hole saw. I also lightened the bumper brackets with a plasma cutter. Total weight loss was 13 lbs. I am trying to achieve a 60's match racer look, so anything out of the ordinary is fair game on this car. The front bumper will also get the same treatment, as will anything with enough material to warrant a hole in it. Total cost on the lightened items, = zero, nada, nothing!!

Very nice project. I wish I worked that fast. You have as much done in a few months, as I have in 2 years.

That Falcon looks way cool. It's all about the 60's gasser look! Keep up the good work. We'll be looking forward to more pictures as your progress continues. JD
