afret Gearhead Posts: 180 From: Lancaster, CA Registered: Feb 2003	posted 03-01-2005 08:17 PM I just installed an autometer fuel pressure gauge which shows my fuel pressure at 6 psi at cruise and idle. The pressure drops to below 4 psi when I get on it. I have a Carter 6 psi mechanical pump on the car now. Less than 4 psi sounds kind of low so would it make a difference if I switch to another mechanical pump with a higher pressure? Holley has a 8 psi 110 gph mechanical pump. I want to stick with a mechanical pump if at all possible. This is on a mostly street driven FE. I checked the sock on the tank pickup and it seems to be ok and fuel pours out when you disconnect the line at the pickup. I have the 3/8 inch pickup and have a -8 AN line from the pickup all the way to the split to the carb bowls. I got similar readings from another gauge. Thanks for any advice. IP: Logged
