Where can I get some AFR 185 non-emmisions? I was told that you have to wait for AFR to make them and that it takes 4 weeks. Is this true? Is there any where I could buy them without the wait?
Thanks
Ryan

Thats the only way to get non-emissions(stip only) heads. Its worth the wait, thats what I did, plus if you have to upgrade valves or springs you know what your getting.Stock is only good up to .550 lift cam max.
I know someone who bought elsewhere & the valves were mis- matched. 1 brand of intakes & 1 brand for exhaust.
It dropped a valve in his 1st race with them. He runs vintage Trans - Am.

When I bought my 185 NE heads I called around. It was pretty much the same story but I did find someone who had them in stock. I did a search for AFR heads and got to calling. I wound up with the .550 springs which was fine.

AFR emissions heads are lighter cause they're
drilled with EGR passages. Otherwise the're the same.

Then why shoot for non emission heads if all you gain is weight?

Get an intake without EGR, you don't have the heat to worry about...

Just my opinion, but a solid piece would seem to hold up better & why have pockets of hot air that cant be cooled.
Im sure emission legal heads are just fine, but they make them both so it would seem to be a difference somewhere.

The non emmissions heads wouldn't have the holes in the roof of the exhaust ports or hollow passages above them.
