Topic: red plug color norm?

my stock 70 stang motor has lost some power so i pulled the plugs and about 3 are red like mars dirt red ( I have been their I know) the rest are orangeish..... whats this mean?

ok the plugs are # 1 and #3 they are more a deep red purple all others are orange (additives in the cheap gas I use?)

That's probably dye in the fuel, but if they are three consecutive cylinders it could possibly be a leaking head gasket.Do a closer check, such as a compression check and a cooling system pressure check if you have access to a tester. ------------------

Red is usually a sign of rust which would indicate some moisture in the cylinders.------------------

do you use the orange Dexcool coolant?
Combined with a little rust that could be a source?------------------

cool thxs guys. could have been rust the motor sat up for a while before I bought it and installed. I have no antifreeze leaks and will have to wait on compression testing.
