stupid pistons and stupid valves

So I'm wondering how much piston to valve clearance I can get away with. Right now I've got about .027 on the intake, but I know of guys claiming they're running their stuff in the .030-.040 range, maybe .050 on the exhaust. Anyone running this tight and getting away with it?

If the engine is still on the stand, just turn it upside down and take a die grinder to the valve reliefs. That's what I do. Plain ole' TRW/Speed-Pro forged pistons rarely clear valve reliefs. I haven't had a set yet that didn't need widened to clear 1.94"/1.60" valves in factory heads.

Good Luck!

Yup.
Especially if you are running anything over .570 lift with big valves.
