I have a 65' mustang coupe with the 200 in it and my carb the ford 1100 choke is stuck to the full open position. It's 30 degrees here so cold starts are impossible I have checked the choke line and inside for vaccum and they both have suction but still its open anyone had this same problem or know how to fix it?

Pull the choke cap and make sure the spring isn't broken.

By the way, welcome to Mustangs and More!

I already checked it the spring seems to work fine but I noticed that it won't go up all the way so I should probably replace it right?

Thanks for the welcome

Use a hair dryer to heat it up and see if it moves (tries to uncoil). If not then you need a new one. If it works you may have some binding in the linkage somewhere...

I just tried that and it uncoiled, so I don't have to replace that. Do you think it could be that spring on the outside? It doesn't seem to have much tension on it.

Is the tube from the manifold to the choke housing still connected? I'm basing this on the 2100 that I had the same kind of problem with but if there's a metal tube from the exhaust manifold to the choke housing then you may want to remove the choke assembly from the carb and make sure the vacuum port is clear. This port allows the hot air from the manifold to be drawn through the choke which warms the spring and undwinds it. My was plugged with what looked like dried mud. Once I cleared that out it worked like a charm.
