Since it was introduced by Borg Warner in the early fifties I would not be surprised if it did not have more than 3 possibilities.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,'04 &'05 First SS/MA in the TENS! I for one have never had any great degree of luck with an FMX..so maybe I'm not the person to be asking. My first was in a 351W under-powered 1977 Thunderbird. The tranny lasted all of about 36,000 miles..and then it literally fused together. My 1968 Torino GT has an FMX bolted up to a 351C..and I'm not running the car until the 351C is rebuilt to at least 351CJ specs..and the FMX is replaced with a modified C6 that I already have built for it. Frankly the FMX is a non-starter for me..especially when better is easily had at a reasonable price. C4 and V8 adapted C6 cores can be had at reasonable rates..and rebuild kits and shift kits are not over the top price wise. So for my money the FMX is an easily discarded option. ------------------ 2000 Crown Victoria (Performance and Handling Package. 1994 SVT Ford F-150 Lightning 1988 Turbo Coupe Thunderbird (5-Speed) 1988 Crown Victoria Police Package (Modified to the max) 1968 Torino GT (Fastback) 351C 4V with B&M C6 Tranny

That's what I thought, but wasn't sure. I'll put in a C4 or AOD when the time comes. Maybe I'll even go all out and put a stick in there.B-loose

Bloose, The C4 is always a good choice in reagrds to being light weight and buildable..but I have mixed feelings on the AOD. The AOD is nice for economy sake...but a bit ticklish when bolting it up to a 4 BBL Carbbed car. I have gone the AOD 4BBL route with the Lokar Kit...and it worked OK...but I've had just as many friends roast one by the TV Pressure being just a flicker off too. The AOD seems to like to work best with EFI cars or cars with the old 7200VV Series of carbs. I would be far more inclined to stick with a C4 or C6 depending on the cars weight..and what kind of power you are looking to make? ------------------ 2000 Crown Victoria (Performance and Handling Package. 1994 SVT Ford F-150 Lightning 1988 Turbo Coupe Thunderbird (5-Speed) 1988 Crown Victoria Police Package (Modified to the max) 1968 Torino GT (Fastback) 351C 4V with B&M C6 Tranny

I here ya on the AOD. What I did on my lane is put in a presure gauge that keeps track of the TV presure. So far I haven't had any problems with it. There are other problems with the AOD that make me leary of them. I put it in my car just so I could run a 4.62 in it and still drive it on the expressway. It has worked out good but I don't have a ton of faith in them either. They can be great tranny's but it takes money and know how. I'm sure a good C4 would be way less money, but you can't run a 4.62 and expect to run it on the freeway 2 hours to the drag track. So I fugured I would run the AOD and replace it if and when it breaks. I may end up doing the same thing with the waggy. Heck maybe when the one I already have goes I learn to rebuild it. Then I can do the upgrades and make it into a good tranny.I would love to put an 5sp in the Waggy, but I think it would cast too much to get a good 5sp for it. B-loose

C-4 does not use a cable shifter from the factory. You can retain your column shift with a C-4. All you need is a similar shift lever. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,'04 &'05 First SS/MA in the TENS!
