If I wasn't drag racing, that's what I would be doing. I just love to watch the old sports cars and especially the Trans Am and production racers from the early and mid sixties.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,'04 &'05 First SS/MA in the TENS! i love the 69 70 trans am racing, those mustangs sound mean, it was a battle between the factorys and you can tell the differance between the cars back then, not like nascar where all the cars seem the same, use to love watching the big Boss 429 fords and dodge hemis compete in nascar back in the day and trans am racing late 60s early 70s.

Ya, that's back when they sold what they raced. Well, not the exact thing, but they had to sell so many of the body styles they raced. Nowadays Nascars have absolutely nothing to do with factory cars. Ever see a 2dr Taurus on the road? I have no interest in Nascar for just this reason. B-loose

A bunch of years ago I met one of the drivers for Shelby's mustangs, his name is Walt Hane. He drove in the Trans-AM series and had some interesting stories.John

I always liked the Terlingua racing team's coupes. I have this vision in my head of making my '67 like them with the blacked out hood, American Racing wheels with big rubber all around. It would be a blast having something that goes around a corner good in an old-school sort of way [This message has been edited by rustang@home (edited 02-05-2005).]

It is a blast.I was big into drag racing, then met some Shelby owners did some open track events. Tho I still watch & go to Drag racing events. My car is not set up to do it so I dont waste my time. That Montery uses Laguna Seca is even better.Thats the only track that could lure me all the way to Cal.

I used to crew chief for a friend who switched over from an Austin Healy Sprite to a 289 Mustang road racer. We ran club events at Blackhawk Farms. It was fun. Too bad he wasn't a better driver as I made the car pretty fast. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver NHRA and IHRA SS/LA & SS/MA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,'03,'04 &'05 First SS/MA in the TENS!
