I am considering switching from the Shaker hood I use now to a Boss 429 style hood. The shaker limits what intake I can run and spacer plates.Any one know which company has best hood for fit? Thanks,

I'm no help at all, but I think the Boss scoop is the best one ever. It'll change the whole attitude of your car. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe 351w C4 Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics

I got my scoop from them, it was in need of some sanding. Otherwise it was in good shape. ------------------ SCOOP oddly obsessed with big scoops on little Mustangs 65 coupe 351w C4 Big Boss 429 hood scoop,8" 3.40 TracLoc. My Pics

Although I've never bought anything from them myself, I know several people who have. Let's just say, the stuff they bought was some of the worst fitting 'glass I have ever heard about. They all complained loudly about the fitment and the amount of work it took to make it presentable (and 2 of them complaining were professional body men.) If you are buying just a scoop, it would probably be ok, but if you are getting an entire hood, I would look elsewhere. I would even think about buying a 'glass hood from someone else (someone with good 'glass like USBody) and sticking the UP scoop on it.

A friend of mine did as KV suggested, he bought just the hood then bolted on a BOSS 9 scoop that he had taken off of a damaged hood. He got his new fiberglass, bolt-on hood (without the scoop) for his '69 MachI from: http://www.glasstek.com/ Yeah, you can probably get them for less $$ from elsewhere, and shipment costs can be an issue, but this one looked good and required minimual fitment & finish touching up. Good Luck! Ryan

Glasstek is good stuff also. So is VFN.I know for a fact, the hood on my father's falcon came from US Body www.usbody.com/ . And when the guy my father bought the car from bought that hood, he said it was straighter than half the factory body panels that were still on the car. My opinion, with as nice as your car is, you will be disappointed if you buy a hood from UP. Either it will look like crap on your car, or you will have more money wrapped up in prep time to make it look good than if you would have bought a 'nice' hood from someone else.

We have had good luck with Ctites Restoration's hoods in the past. They are not the lightest in the market but the fit and finish are excellent.http://www.critesrestoration.com/ ------------------ Grippo Racing If nothing else, we look good.

I would also recomend talking to the glasstek people. They are racer friends of ours. The person who owns the company is someone we have raced with for every bit of 20 years. Reaching him specifically would be hard, but his name is Robert Mortenson. I think thats how the last name is spelled anyway.
