I haven't seen the paper formulas but figure they're quite imposing. I have a comptuer program called Desktop Dyno 2000 which seems to come close. Even used to have another program that would simulate times and shift points for a 1/4 mile if you dug enough about drag coefficients wheel base, etc out of car magazines. Both programs, especially when used together, seemed to be a little optimistic, but maybe that was due to personal work inefficecies.

There are several software programs that calculate potential horsepower, but whether slide rule or IBM you need specific information on every componant, accurate cylinder head flow numbers, valve events, induction CR etc. Sounds to me like you may be as well off deciding what power level you wish to attain and look at crate motor specs for that power level, or ask Alex or other expert their ideas on how to achieve those goals.

If you plan on 370-400HP with stock heads, You better plan on a bigger cam than that. For a real good sound and approx 350 fwHP with ported stock heads and free flowing exhaust, a CompCams 282S should do the trick. Above that, you'll start to loose some streetabilty.------------------ 1966 Mustang Coupe: Custom glass hood and BIG scoop sits atop a 289 stroked to 331 c.i., Steel crank, rods and girdle, TFS alum. heads, Stealth 8020 intake, Xtreme 268 Solid Roller, Holley 750 HP, long tubes, 4speed, 9" 3.50 posi. 11.50 @ 116 mph (7.33 @ 93 mph)daily driver! A suggestion, 331 or 347 short block or get a long block with some decent heads on it 400+ fwhp should be fairly easy. You may have to step up on the carb though. JustMy 2 Cents Not to push FRPP crate engines though a FRPP 347 is at 400 hp The GT40x head 302 is 340 with FI and 355 with a carb. My GT 40 made 268 rwhp with 600 holley (no tuning) thru the mufflers. Also ran 13.39 out of the box on tiny street tires. ------------------ 67 Mustang F/B 302 GT-40X FMS engine RPM Air Gap 650 BG CLAW Edelbrock 100 shot Crane 1.7 rollers ceramic coated headers T5, cable clutch Flows X Pipe 3.89 9".
