Ok, here's a question I'll bet never gets asked.......lol. I've got an 89 LX stock bottom end w/ a trick flow stage 1 cam. The drive train is 4:10 rear, world class t-5 and a king cobra clutch. I'm just wanting some input on a good supercharger. What is a safe boost presure to run on an everyday driver and what kind of performance can i look forward to. Thanks, looking forward to getting this done.....

Does that have forged pistons?I don't know about Ford stuff since at work all we deal with is chevies, but on the LS1 motors with a stock bottom end, we run 8-9 lbs of boost on them without any problems and we do that all the time. But the LT1's had hyper pistons, and anything more than about 5 lbs of boost makes for a very short lifepsan on the motor. One guy who we have just built a motor for tried to run 8 lbs on a stock bottom ended LT1. It literally ran for about half an hour till it blew up. Now he has a nice little 383 with good internals, a 12 lb pulley, ported heads, and should make around 620 hp to the wheels once we get it done. So what I am really saying is, I don't know the answer to your question, I just felt like posting something.

Well, I just got a new track heat intake, msd probillit dist, fuel pump, regulator, throttle body, mass air meter, pulleys and now thinking of a pro charger set up with around 8-9 lbs. It does have forged pistons, and a fresh build so I'm not too worried about it going ka-boom anytime soon(knock on wood).......

Also, something to consider is the stock 89 HO had 9:1 compression. So that would limit your the boost you could run without worrying about detonation on pump gas wouldn't it?

Not sure how good the Pro Charger is for Fords, but we don't like using them on the GM stuff. We took one off a car last week and replaced it with a Vortech. Both were making around 8-9 lbs of boost and the Pro Charger put down 405 HP to the rear wheels, and on the same car the Vortech put down 480 with a very safe tune (both were thru an automatic with a very loose convertor.) Th reason he switched was he had 3 Pro Chargers blow up (the blower itself blew up.) He's not the only guy we've dealt with who's had problems with them.

Thanks for the heads up.... This shop here in town that a friend of mine owns swears by them on the mustangs but I'm in new territory with superchargers and I'd much rather spend 2500 than 3500 for the same amount of boost. But that also includes the intercooler and setup. I dont know which way to go but I'm doin my homework before I start shopping

Ive seen equal problems with the two main manufactors of centrifugal supercharger. for the street and every day car either a vortech v1sq with after cooler or a procharger p1sc and a 3 core intercooler. Paxton may have a novi 1000 with an air to air intercooler for a fox also. But when you get into the big blowers, procharger seems to have just about all areas covered and make awsome power for race cars. Im not saying procharger is the best but Im sure they have the fastest supercharged cars in most ford racing classes including modular and pro5.0

Well I finished all the bolt-ons this weekend and re-re-re-installed the gt40p heads with track heat intake, msd probillit dist, msd 6al and coil. Took her out and D@&N it's runnin it's butt off. Very impressed with what just a few bolt-ons will do for this car....
